Next to my office in Lantana Square in Hockessin is one of DSWA’s recycling bin locations. Over the Labor Day weekend, the greener residents of Hockessin were apparently exceptionally inspired drop off their recyclables and as a result the bins were full.
Did they go to another location? Did they leave the stuff in their car until later in the day when the bins were emptied? Did they take it back home and bring it back on Tuesday after DSWA had them emptied?
The answer is No, No and No. Instead these pillars of the environmental movement just threw the stuff on the ground which in other areas of the county is called illegal dumping or littering.
Behold:
Are you kidding me? I bet that some of these people are just the ones who were so outraged when the owners disinvited these bins before. DSWA does a very good job of inspecting and emptying these bins but over a holiday weekend…
I do recycle. Personally, I pay the $3 per month for curbside. But if I did not, I would not think myself entitled to dump trash on someones’ property. You should see these clueless people. They drive up in their giant vehicles and sit idling the engine for 5-10 minutes as they finish their cell phone conversation before alighting to deposit their waste in the bins to help save the planet.
Entitled. That’s the word. Entitled, arrogant and selfish.
