Cloward and Piven suggested that a tactic to be used to bring down the US government was to overwhelm the system with impossible demands for social services.
Seems like something like this is happening right now as the Border Patrol is overwhelmed, the government does not have the capacity to care for all of the kids who are pouring in and local communities are being overwhelmed as well. Many are physically or mentally ill and we have insufficient resources to treat them.
I am sure that this is just a lot of unintended consequences from an incompetent administration, but it would not look a great deal different if it were planned. Perhaps the drug cartels in Mexico wanting less enforcement at the border or it could be more than that; an implementation of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals to bring down the government.
But it is probably just the incompetent thing.
The flood of immigrants over the border. A Cloward Piven strategy?

Typo in this story — it’s spelled “Cloward-Piven”.

Thank you, bemused2. I corrected it.
Isn’t facilitating the movement of groups of people across international boarders for monetary or other gains, the essence of human trafficking?
Of course the administration claims it’s doing this for humanitarian purposes, but If I was smuggling people in from China or some such place for nefarious purposes, I would also claim that it was for humanitarian purposes.
Borders, not boarders…lol. Surfs up..lol.
Haven’t heard that yet. Good one; someone is going to steal it for Tshirts and bumper stickers!
You haven’t heard it yet because you just thought of it. I was just correcting my spelling because I had surfboards on the brain.
Interesting how the same folk who obsess over Hispanic illegals never say a word against the people who hire illegals. Must be easier to just hate the brown people than to think it through. Besides the people who hire slave labor are admired by the people who resent the slaves
I agree. Employers who hire people who are here illegally are the crux of the problem. Punishment for doing so should be fast, certain and effective. Employers are easier to find as well and there are fewer of them so it is more efficient. Removing the magnet will reduce illegal entry to some manageable level.
The E Verify system sounded like it would work if mandated nationwide. Unfortunately like other government programs it is apparently ineffective. Merely providing someone else’s valid SS number and name defeats it. I heard recently that through their incompetence the federal government has allowed millions of those to be stolen from their own computers. Also, in the states where it was mandated, employers are simply not complying and there does not seem to be any effective enforcement.
Too bad.
