The following link takes you to the New Tampa Republican Club video of a debate between Vice Presidential candidate Joe Biden and Joe Biden. It is quite funny. “And I always say what I mean…”
Just one heart beat away from being President…
I watched last night’s Veep debate, and in the immediate aftermath, I felt very good about Ryan’s performance. He was solid, on-point, accurate. I thought he stumbled the constituent service part of the debate, but that was his only slip — and one that nobody really cares about. I watched MSNBC because I like to know what the other side is talking about, and I find Rachel Maddow to be really very funny (although I don’t think that that is her intent).
There were two beefs that Rachel & the gang had…
1) Relative to Afghanistan, I thought Ryan was crystal clear. It is still the fighting season. We had a surge to give the Afghan authorities time to build up security and civil infrastructure so that they can hold the gains on their own. We have pulled out 20,000 surge troops too early. So, we have left a light force to fight heavily armed insurgents while our only help is a still poorly trained Afghan military. Who do you want fighting next to you? An American Marine? Or a recently trained Afgani, who might shoot you in the back?
Ryan’s position is clear. Allow the surge to continue through the fighting season so that our troops are supporting our troops. Reduce our force level after the fighting season when it is safe to withdraw them all.
2) Eliminating tax deductions are a negotiation with Congress. That’s what Reagan and O’Neill did. It worked. We already know that if you mention an obvious cut, like the uber-wealthy Sesame Street business interests, that the leftwing and their media friends will try to hammer you. But, just as John Kennedy did and Ronald Reagan did, you can lower the rates and broaden the base and the economy grows. The Jared Bernstein acolytes don’t understand this (it isn’t in their Macroeconomic models), so the MSNBC folks don’t get it either.
So, I felt pretty good upon calling it a night last night. Upon waking this morning, I knew that we had won another debate because even MSNBC, this time Andrea Mitchell, was yammering on about how Biden had claimed during the debate that the Administration didn’t know that the Benghazi embassy had asked for more troops prior to the 9/11 attack and that they didn’t know that there was not a protest. So, either the Administration is being mendacious or incompetent (neither of which is a flattering description). If they’re being mendacious, then they’re playing the mainstream media for suckers, and even Ms. Mitchell doesn’t like that.
In short, Ryan nailed it, and Smilin’ Joe looked goofy and incompetent. On to next week.

I spent my college career in North Carolina. My college roommate was from Greenwood, South Carolina. I lived for almost 3 years along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and in New Orleans. Joe Biden started life in Scranton and then grew up in Delaware. Really, Joe? Y’all? Really? Only Hilary Clinton sounds less Southern than you do… To quote Bugs Bunny, “What a maroon…”

I have previously blogged on the connection between billionaire investor, John Doerr, and his early investment in Treasurer Jack Markell. Mr. Doerr, a card-carrying member of the 1% (if not an initiator of the breed), believes in making money the old-fashion way… He buys it. Of course, Bloom Energy is also a John Doerr funded enterprise.
One Of Fisker’s Largest Financial Investors Was “Politically Connected” California Venture Capital Firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. “The loan to Fisker is part of a $1 billion bet the Energy Department has made in two politically connected California-based electric carmakers producing sporty — and pricey — cutting-edge autos. … One of Fisker’s biggest financial supporters, records show, is the California venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. The firm financially supports numerous green-tech firms, records show.” (Matthew Mosk and Brian Ross, “Car Company Gets U.S. Loan, Builds Cars In Finland,” ABC News, 10/20/11)John Doerr, A Partner Of Kleiner Perkins, Which Has Given More Than $1 Million To Candidates, Primarily Democrats, Recently Hosted Obama For A Dinner With High-Tech Executives. “Kleiner Perkins partner John Doerr, a California billionaire who made a fortune investing in Google, hosted President Obama at a February dinner for high-tech executives at his secluded estate south of San Francisco. Doerr and Kleiner Perkins executives have contributed more than $1 million to federal political causes and campaigns over the last two decades, primarily supporting Democrats.” (Matthew Mosk and Brian Ross, “Car Company Gets U.S. Loan, Builds Cars In Finland,” ABC News, 10/20/11)
- Doerr Is A Member Of Obama’s Council On Jobs And Competitiveness. (The White House, Accessed 6/5/12)
Mr. Doerr being a member of the Council On Jobs And Competitiveness is a bit like putting the fox in charge of the chicken coop. He invests in Democrats, and Democrats use taxpayer money to bail out Mr. Doerr’s failed investments. He’s clearly had Governor Markell’s ear which has cost Delaware Taxpayers over $20 million and counting…

Drugmakers Vowed To Campaign For Health Law, Memos Show
By Drew Armstrong – May 31, 2012 2:51 PM ET
Drugmakers led by Pfizer (PFE) Inc. agreed to run a “very significant public campaign” bankrolling political support for the 2010 health-care law, including TV ads, while the Obama administration promised to block provisions opposed by drugmakers, documents released by Republicans show.
The internal memos and e-mails for the first time unveil the industry’s plan to finance positive TV ads and supportive groups, along with providing $80 billion in discounts and taxes that were included in the law. The administration has previously denied the existence of a deal involving political support.
The documents were released today by Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. They identify price controls under Medicare and drug importation as the key industry concerns, and show that former Pfizer Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey Kindler and his top aides were involved in drawing it up and getting support from other company executives.
“As part of our agreement, PhRMA needs to undertake a very significant public campaign in order to support policies of mutual interest to the industry and the Administration,” according to a July 14, 2009, memo from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. “We have included a significant amount for advertising to express appreciation for lawmakers’ positions on health care reform issues.”
The goal, the memo said, was to “create momentum for consensus health care reform, help it pass, and then acknowledge those senators and representatives who were instrumental in making it happen and who must remain vigilant during implementation.”
In other documents, PhRMA agreed to help back at least three different advertising and advocacy groups that pushed for health-care reform.
A PhRMA memo described a group called Health Economy Now, and noted that under an agreement “the industry provides the majority of financial support for positive TV ads advocating passage of health reform.”
It also provided financial backing for television ads thanking lawmakers for their support of an expansion of children’s health care insurance under Medicaid, the U.S. insurance program for the poor, and a campaign called “Harry and Louise,” run with Families USA, a Washington-based pro- health care reform group that advocates for consumers.

I don’t know who got played worse:
1) The legislative supporters of ObamaCare who are either no longer in office (being voted out) or are now serving in the minority caucus,
2) The President, who willingly took industry money (from some pesky 1%’ers) and allowed Corporations to hide their ties to this bill (Does anyone else see the similarity to “Crossroads GPS”)
or 3) The Pharma’s themselves — a quick look at local company AstraZeneca is all one needs to see how their fortunes have proceeded.
It would be funny if it weren’t so serious. Now we can see who is really trying to push grandma off the cliff… To quote the Vice President, “It is a big effing deal.”
If you think it is stupid that the Brandywine School District is considering naming a new school after Vice President Joe Biden, then you want to check out this site:
They want you to vote for Hanby, but a vote for anything except Biden is fine by me. It is insane that we are naming a public school after a politician who is still in office! You don’t have to live in the district (or even Delaware) to vote, so send in your ballot by January 31st.
