I have long considered Pastor Chris Bullock a friend, a gifted orator, and leader of a Congregation with one of the best music programs I have had the opportunity to enjoy. Several years ago, when Pastor Bullock was still a registered Republican, I actively endorsed his efforts to grow minority outreach and supported him when he investigated a run for the State Senate. Regrettably, some local issues and the National debate convinced him to switch to the Democrat Party. Politically, we parted ways.
Recently, I was asked by two downstate Republicans how much money I had raised for Pastor Bullock for his run for County Council President. My response? I haven’t raised him any money nor did I hold a fundraiser for him. While I believe that the more candidates in an election, the better the debate, I am not supporting Chris in his race nor have I raised him any money. I don’t believe that we have spoken since well before he filed to run.
My candidate? Mike Protack. Why? Mike has been a resident of New Castle County for 42 years starting in the two room elementary school Booker T Washington in Old New Castle graduating from William Penn High School in 1975 and the University Of Delaware in 1979 with a B. A. in International Relations. From there Mike served in the U S Marines from 1979 to 1989 and he left Reserve service in 1991 as an 0-4 (Major/Lt Cmdr).
He is focusing his campaign on four areas:
- Government Transparency
- Public Safety (Delaware ranks worst in the Nation in 2010 in Robbery)
- Better Land Use Policy
- Taxes & The Economy
Mike is a good man and will bring a reliable hand to our County Government.
