Parents of kids attending public school in many areas will tell you that they are cautioned not to let their children bring anything involving peanuts to school. This is due to the severe and possibly life threatening allergic reactions that some children could have if exposed to peanuts. I have read that some kids are so sensitive to peanuts that even a whiff would cause a terrible reaction.
So what item would you never expect to see on a school lunch menu…? Well if you guessed peanut butter, you would be wrong! Actually peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are the only thing that is on the menu every single day in Red Clay Elementary Schools. Is this bizarre or what?
In addition, I was talking to a parent who pointed out that they don’t even make the sandwiches. Apparently the skill of smearing peanut butter on bread has been lost by the cafeteria ladies since I was in school. They buy Uncrustables made by Smuckers, unbelievable. And we wonder why they need so much money to run the schools.
Check the menu below. I was fascinated at what the government is feeding kids these days.
