It seems that some executive at Acme Markets (now owned by SuperValu) has ordered that any American flags on display be removed. I frequent the store at Pike Creek and the flags there were taken down last week. When I spoke to an employee there I was told that it was a regional decision.
I am not saying that they are under any obligation to display the flag. I also don’t know how many Acmes had flags before. But even if this was the only one, what possible good can come from an order to remove them. Why risk alienating customers over something like this?
Remember the Black History Month Sale Circular in 2009? That was another self inflicted wound on their part. I do not have it in for the Acme people, but this is dumb stuff.
