Wow. It has taken years longer than I ever thought it would for this green fraud of Bluewater Wind to unravel. If Delmarva had not extended the drop dead date a couple of times, I could have done my “I told you so’s” a long time ago.
Years ago, when I was hosting on WDEL and in this very blog I predicted that they would never build this thing because they would be unable to get financing. When NRG bought them from the bankrupt Babcock and Brown, I wondered if they would be silly enough to fund it themselves. It turns out that they were not that foolish. Without the certainty of subsidies extracted from the taxpayer under the thread of prison and death and a couple more power purchase agreements , even forcing Delmarva’s ratepayers to buy something that they did not want could not make this financially feasible.
Onshore wind can be made to work with free land and Audubon turning a blind eye, offshore wind power is a joke.
