Some Lib on O’Reilly recently complained that there should have been an up or down vote on a clean debt ceiling increase. I thought there was one but then I started doubting myself so I did some Googling. If I missed something here, let me know. I did not triple check the data this time.
- May 31 the House voted on a clean $2.4 trillion debt ceiling increase. It failed 318-97 even though there are over 190 Dems in the House.
Then I wondered how many bills were sent to the Senate that the new “No Party” Dems over there, led by Dr. No, Harry Reid, refused to even work on leading to the debt ceiling “crisis.”
- The Ryan Budget; passed the House and defeated in the Senate 40-57 on May 25.
- Cut Cap and Balance; passed the House and killed in the Senate 51-46 on July 22.
- Boehner Bill; passed the House and killed in the Senate 59-41 on July 29.
And someone has the nerve to say that it was the House that obstructed the process and took us to the brink. If the Senate had been working instead of just obstructing, could some deal have been reached that would have prevented the US Bond downgrade? We will never know.
