Early in the Obama administration, then Chief of Staff (now Chicago Mayor), Rahm Emmanuel, was quoted as saying, “Never let a crisis go to waste.”
What followed was two years of deficit spending, two 2,000+ page bills (Obamacare & Dodd-Frank) that no one read, and an aggressive regulatory regime that has shut down the economy. Mayor Emmanuel & the extreme left did not let a crisis go to waste.
However, they have created a worse crisis – the bringing of the US to a debt ceiling precipice that will determine the future of government in the US for the next 30 years.
To respond to this crisis, Americans voted, overwhelmingly, to stop the progressive madness. These newly elected fiscal conservatives are now following Mayor Emmanuel’s advice. They are using the debt ceiling crisis to unwind the madness that was 2008-2010’s failed liberal/progressive agenda.
I applaud them. Nothing less than my children’s future is at stake. “Never let a crisis go to waste” – good advice, indeed.
