Jim Van Houten is a retired military veteran who served his country in the United States Army for nearly twenty five years. During that time he was awarded two Army commendation awards, three achievement medals, five overseas service ribbons, four good conduct medals, the Army national defense service medal, the joint meritorious unit award and the army service ribbon among a host of others. In addition to that he was assigned to security details for retired World War II general Omar Bradley and President Ronald Reagan. Jim retired from active service in 2002 and went to work serving his fellow vets in the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Previous to that he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Wilmington University and an associate’s degree from the University of Maryland. Jim’s service to his nation and frustration with do-nothing incumbents sparked his decision to run. He plans to focus on his areas of expertise: jobs and improving the Delaware economy.

First it was Bill Maher of HBO. Now it is Helen Thomas, a news “reporter” who likes to sit in the front row at White House press briefings; harass Republican press secretaries; and fawn over Democratic ones. Evidently, she has no knowledge of Middle East history. The land that is now called Israel has been home to the Jews and others (whether Jews controlled the territory or the Romans did or the Turks did) for a few thousand years. Jews were there for centuries before Mohammad received his inspiration on the Arabian Peninsula. The issues in the Middle East have been developing and changing since Pharaoh’s daughter pulled Moses out of the bullrushes. But, “reporter” and leftist Ms. Thomas has it all solved simply by issuing plane tickets. Another fine example of the thought processes of the extreme left.

Update on June 7, 12:40:

Helen Thomas retires

A statement from Hearst Newspapers:

WASHINGTON, June 7, 2010 – Helen Thomas announced Monday that she is retiring, effective immediately.

Her decision came after her controversial comments about Israel and the Palestinians were captured on videotape and widely disseminated on the Internet.

Thomas later issued a statement: “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.’’

Thomas will mark her 90th birthday on Aug. 4.

Good Riddance…
