Back in the day women had a dance card on which men would inscribe the dance they wished to have with the lady. But the cardinal rule is that the last dance, etc was always for the one who brought you… to the dance.
In this case the gay community brought the President to the dance. They raised all kinds of money and voted over 95% for him.
However, the President has forgotten the cardinal rule and his gay suitor is annoyed and will stay as such.
In the Atlantic magazine a former GOP leader, Andrew Sullivan, turned a major D over gay issues has excoriated the President for failing to deliver to the gay community.
This means the gay intelligensia has walked. They won’t be back come 10 or 12.
If the GOP is smart they will nominate someone who maintains what you do in your bed is your business.
The gay community is business savvy. They voted D last time due to rhetoric and fluff. That is evaporating.
The administration is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they placate the gay community over “dont ask/don’t tell” in the military the conservative base gets even stronger for 2010. So to muffle the coming landslide in 2010 they have now waffled.
In politics you dance with the one who brought you. These amateurs don’t get it. They will in 13 months. The gay community already has.
