From the GSA website:
Recovery.gov Version 2.0 $18 Million Contract Awarded
New Website Aimed at Increasing Transparency
The website recovery.gov apparently lets the public see how the stimulus money is being spent so they can be assured that it is not being wasted.
I will have to look at recovery.gov one day but I think that I may have found some waste already in an $18 million redesign of the website. I don’t care if it has a remake of the dancing baby, trunk monkey and flashing “ESSO’s”, I really question whether you could not get it redesigned for 1/100th of that; around $200,000.
It would be interesting to know which politician’s relative is now a “stimulus millionaire”. The only thing that I have seen so far is that House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer has received a bunch of contributions from Smartronix Inc. (the lucky contract winner) executives over the years. Leader Hoyer’s office is doing their best Sgt Schultz impression, “I know nothing…”
