Today there are some big events in Wilmington — Bike races, festivals, concerts — the whole shebang. Even the News Journal got into the act to try and promote something positive occurring in the City. However, it doesn’t seem that DelDot got the message. Driving into the City from the north of town on I-95, there was a huge traffic jam from Marsh Road on into the City. Why? Construction.
I know that DelDot tries to limit annoying construction during the week when there is allegedly professional work (lawyers, bankers, businessfolks) going on in Wilmington. However, it isn’t often that Wilmington actually has something going on on Saturday. Pity a lot of people are going to think twice about getting stuck on I-95 the next time Wilmington has a weekend event…
The Department of State, DEDO & the Governor could have informed DelDot that Delaware could use some economic development.
