An uncle who resides in Elsemere is retired and a union Democrat. Despite this he is a good guy.
They voted for Hillary in the primary and went with Mr. mmmm, mmmm good in November.
They also are raising 2 of their grandchildren because my cousin has a fondness for illegal drugs.
For the past 3 years they have always done a week in Rehoboth with the grandkids. Until this year when new legal fees came about due to yet another arrest for their son.
So the week in Rehoboth became 2 day trips. They are on a modest budget and they are Democrat’s;
until yesterday. Come Monday they are becoming I’s.
Why?
Their President’s wife travels on our dime to Spain for a week of Ooh La La and they can’t afford a week in Rehoboth and yet their party is the party of the little guy?
Mr. mmmm, mmmm, good is doing more to help the GOP then Jimmy Carter did. I only hope we can survive the ruinous taxes that are coming with the Lame Ducks beginning on 11/3.
My girlfriend’s mother, a New Jersey Irish Catholic, with a long family history of voting for Democrats, as do most of this extraction, recently gave a mea culpa about voting for “The One”. She is now solidly an independent and on issues like illegal immigration and government overspending, vociferously on our side.
Your uncle cannot officially change until September 15th. Right now party changes aren’t allowed.
We’ve all had to cut back – except the powerful and out-of-touch. The country is burning, but the leadership just fiddles.

It seems like only yesterday that Lady O was pleading with Americans to take their vacation at the Gulf resorts, for the sake of the devastated economy.

If they think their budget is modest now, wait until the guys who want to voucherize and privatize Social Security and Medicare are in power.
I certainly can understand their frustration and I regret that they did not get a real vacation at the beach. It is wonderful that they have stepped in to raise the grandchildren. That is admirable.
But, should not their anger and disappointment be focused on the recalcitrant son rather on the fact that the first lady has the wherewithall to travel to Spain? Gee whiz. I am not sure that I see the connection.
