Allright I admit I didn’t vote for The Jack; but The Jack is smart and honest so hey it could be worse for at a minimum he’s not a RuthAnn.
However The Jack appears to have ceded his authority to Mike Begatto of AFSCME fame.
School’s are losing teachers yet AFSCME members are getting back their 2.5% pay cut from last year?
This means DSEA has little juice with The Jack whereas Mike Beggato seems to be the juice.
Furthermore The Jack seems to be trying to tell state employee’s the benefit gravy train is over yet Mike B has much of the General Assembly convinced Holy War will descend on them if one co-pay is raised. The Jack is right but in this case being right counts for little.
We in DE are headed for a fiscal cliff. The state continues to spend to satisfy the gargantuan needs of it’s employee’s. The old cry of well “they” are poorly paid is bs because “they” choose to apply for the job. No one has been forced into state employment.
Mike Begatto’s campaign of protecting his worker’s appears to be successful for now but in time the chicken’s will come home to roost for the apple cart is close to be tipped over.
So while The Jack has tried to some degree, the real Governor has protected his own which begs the question of what will the next Governor do when we’re in chapter 11 and state employee layoff’s have to occur because of Begatto’s very phyrric victory?
How about juice with the JFC.
The Cookie runs the JFC. Just ask The Jack. The Cookie calls The Jack ‘hon’ and she then runs the show!
Teachers are getting their 2.5% back just like the AFSCME people. Most teachers will not lose their jobs. Teacher lay-offs happen so that districts do not get “stuck” with too many teachers beyond what the state unit count allows them.
