As I have opined before – something I do extremely well – The President is in a jam.
He told all and sundry that within a year the withdrawals would be happening.
A year.
It’s been 11 months. That’s close enough to a year.
And now he wants 30,000 more men and women to go fight in the Khyber Pass.
The far left who got him the nod – the code pink and move on and acorn guys are tripping out. David Obey is now publicly disagreeing with him. Obey will be in office 20 years from now, Mr. Obama won’t. This means Obey has more long term sway then a President up again in 2012.
The far left revolts, the President who now actually believes what he got in the campaign intelligence briefings are true causing him to be responsible all of sudden. Hillary stays away from this war like the plague to boot.
In ’68 the D’s imploded at Chicago over the war. How poetic that it may again happen thanks to someone from there.
Obama will attempt to ‘foam the runway’ with a half way approach which is unlikely to work.
The key for me is the fight against the Taliban and AlQaeda, together and apart.
I don’t want the Taliban to be the focus, I want to keep AlQaeda in check but the country of Afghanistan is a failed civics experiment.
I am not in favor of more troops.
